REEVE, Austin

June 6, 1924 – March 11, 2020

Austin passed away peacefully at home. Survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Peggy, he was born in Newcastle, England. The son of John and Lily Reeve, and brother to Joan and Jack. He worked for the BBC and served in the Air Force during World War II as a wireless mechanic. He and Peggy immigrated to Canada in 1952 and settled in Toronto where he worked for General Electric. They raised two children, David (Nell) of Lauderhill, Florida and the late Glenys Coffin (Dave) of Ottawa. The family moved to Ottawa in 1962 where Austin began a career with CJOH, helping to build the station and working his way up to VP Engineering. In his retirement, he and Peggy travelled, bowled with the Kanata Seniors and he always kept family and friends amused with a good story. He was the proud grandfather of Lindsay Coffin (Ian Miller) and Michael Coffin (Caitlin), and great-grandfather to Finley. He is survived by close friends Lori, Ashely and Erin Hill, and Lynda Scott. Thanks to all those who provided care. Family and friends are invited to visit at Cole Funeral Services & Pinecrest Remembrance Services, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, ON Wednesday, March 18, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of choice.
