<div itemprop="description">O’CALLAGHAN, Thomas Alexander <br><br>Tom passed peacefully with loved ones by his side at the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre on January 17, 2020, at the age of 96. <br><br>Born in Ottawa on July 27, 1923, he was the son of the late William and Olive (née Rolls) O’Callaghan. Tom worked for 37 years with CNCP, and was well-known around Westboro for his good sense of humour, the knowing twinkle in his eyes, and his love of St. Patrick’s Day.<br><br>He is predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Jean (née Lamont), as well as his second wife, Virginia Dunlop. He is survived by his children, Monty (Lynn) O’Callaghan and Bette-Ann Ekholm (née O’Callaghan); his step-children, Mike Dunlop (Janice McLean), Kathy (Dave) Graham, Kevin (Maggie) Dunlop, and predeceased by his step-daughter, Lee (Bill) Walsh. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Natalie Ekholm (George Phillips) and Andrea Ekholm. Tom is predeceased by his siblings Marie (the late Jack Hutt), Verna (the late Bill Noxon), and Bernie (the late Marnie) O’Callaghan. In addition, Tom will be dearly remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends. <br><br>The family wishes to thank Roberta, Phaedra, and Winnie, as well as the staff at the Perley for their kind and compassionate care of Tom. <br><br>Family and friends are invited to gather at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre (2500 Baseline Rd., Ottawa) on Saturday, February 1, from 12:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the on-site chapel at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow.<br><br>In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
