In Celebration of

Sean Dermott Hayes

December 21, 1953 -  May 16, 2020

Sean passed away peacefully with family at his side at the Queensway Carleton Hospital. He was the dear son of Fred and Maureen Hayes (Crowe) both deceased. He was the cherished father of Jason (Christina) and Kevin – mother Helene Gorley and Amber-Lynn, Clinton and stepdaughter Samantha – mother Bonnie Anderson. Proud Papa of Desiree, Brendan, Kyeler, Elijah, Isaiah, Aidan and Tae. Sean is also survived by his loving siblings Malcolm (Jacqueline), Laurie Farrell (Russ), and Alanna Hein (Ellwood). Affectionately known as “Cowboy”, Sean was a talented mechanic and guitarist who had a great zest for life. The times most enjoyed by Sean were spent with his sons tinkering with cars and with his many friends sharing stories, singing songs and playing guitar. Sean will be greatly missed by all. A big thank you to the 4th floor staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital for the wonderful care they provided. Sean will be laid to rest at a private service at Pinecrest Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation or the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.

My memories of Uncle Sean are wonderful...singing along as he played Puff The Magic Dragon on the guitar, singing quietly when he got to the part that Jackie Paper came no more. All good memories. You will be missed.

Sean was a loving giving friend and we spent many years and many hours laughing crying and sharing life together- Sean knew how to have fun since the hippie days we have danced and sang and told tall tales with the strathcona gang- In his last days we talked about death and life after death- He loved Jesus and knew where his eternity lay- Be at peace now my dear we will meet again LOVE susan+
