Predeceased by his parents, Giuseppina and Anselmo Bortolotti. Loving husband of Dr. Margot Felix. Dear brother of the late Alma Tissot (who predeceased him by three months), Leo, and Elda Allen. Great friend and brother-in-law of Gloria Bortolotti, the late Lorne Tissot, the late Ellard Allen, and Wilkie and Rosemary Felix. Proud and affectionate uncle to Steven (Martha) and Paula Tissot; Perry (Lani), Paul (Jen Curtis), Mark (Christine), and Michael (Tracey) Bortolotti; Jennifer (Dave Skippen) and Andrew Allen; Gael (Doug Brekwell) and Jean-Marc Felix; great- uncle to Lauren (Mike Leroux) and Graham (Shayna Sherman) Tissot; Tanner (Jaime) and Jordan (Lianne) Bortolotti; and great-great -uncle to Bennett and Mia Leroux and Tova Tissot. Nello was a long-time vibrant force and dedicated volunteer locally, especially within Ottawa’s Italian community. He served on many boards and committees, including the committee for Italian Week; the National Congress of Italian Canadians; the Multicultural Advisory Committee of the former Ottawa Board of Education; the Council on Aging; the Somerset West Community Health Centre; the Ottawa Festival Network; the Ottawa Immigration Council; and the Kidney Foundation. He served for many years as national President of the Order of Italo Canadians, as well as the President of the Canadian Fraternal Association. One of Nello’s particular passions was the Villa Marconi Long-Term Care Centre, of which he was a co-founder. Over the years, he chaired the John Donofrio Golf Tournament, an important fundraiser for the Villa. Nello was recognized for his community work by the Government of Canada; the Province of Ontario; the City of Nepean; and several Ottawa-based organizations. Nello worked for many decades at Welch and Johnston Limited, eventually becoming partner-owner of the company. In his youth, Nello was a well-known local athlete active in competitive hockey, football and lacrosse. In lieu of flowers, donations to Villa Marconi, 1026 Baseline Road, Ottawa, Ontario K2C 0A6, would be much appreciated. We welcome you to attend a celebration of Nello’s life, at Marconi Centre on Sunday, September 30th from 1pm to 4pm.</div>
