Born on February 6, 1957 in Ottawa, Mike passed away peacefully on November 17, 2018 with his family by his side. Devoted and caring son to Gwen (nee Hellard) and Carl (predeceased in 1994). Older brother to Jay.

All his love went to his wife Nancy (nee Clark), with whom he shared 39 years together as both husband and wife and business partners in Foley Signs. He was an extremely proud and selfless Dad to Julie (Josh Foster), and Allison (Sean Carroll). Proud Poppa to Hailey, Kamryn, Tessa, and Hannah.

Mike dedicated his life to hockey as a player, coach, fan, and photographer. His love of hockey was shown through his 26 years as part of the equipment staff of the Ottawa Senators, behind the bench coaching both of his daughters, cheering in the stands for his granddaughters (camera in hand, of course), or lacing up for his own game on Sunday mornings. Mike was always on the go; racing around CTC helping anyone and everyone, driving many kilometres between attractions on a family vacation, or puttering around at the Norway Bay cottage. He will be fondly remembered for his kindness, his witty and fun-loving personality, and for always helping others.

His family would like to acknowledge the caring staff at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus, the kindness and compassion of the staff and volunteers at Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice Care, and the Ottawa Senators organization for their love and support.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, December 7th at 1pm at the Canadian Tire Centre (via Gate 2 entrance). A private inurnment will take place with family and close friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Care Ottawa or the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

Mike would like you to take the time and say to hello to everyone you come across; even if you can't stop to talk, just say hi. He'd like that.
