<div itemprop="description">Peacefully at the Granite Ridge Care Community on February 25th 2018 at the age of 84. Marilyn was the beloved wife of the late David and dear Mother to her sons Robert (Julie), David (Bridget) and Gord (Kelli). She will be missed by her grandchildren, Patrick, Ryan, Nicolas, Megan, Michaela, Fiona and Corey. She is survived by her brother Charles (Ella) of Calgary and predeceased by her parents, Mary Catherine Douglas (nee Corey) and Clarence Douglas, of Dorchester N.B. and her brothers, Bill and Bob. <br> <br>Marilyn was a long-time employee of the Ottawa Civic Hospital. Prior to that she worked for the Ottawa Police Force where she was one of the first females to join as a Meter Maid. In her youth, she served in the RCAF as a Fighter Control Operator. Upon her retirement, Marilyn spent time volunteering at the Cancer Research Centre and the Ottawa Foodbank and many memories were made with her group of friends at TOPS. <br> <br>The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Granite Ridge Care Community, Stittsville, for their exceptional care and support over the past several years. <br> <br>Family will receive friends at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre (2500 Baseline Road) on Thursday March 1, 2018 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and <br>7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. A Celebration of Marilyn’s Life will be held in Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel on Friday, March 2, 11:00 a.m. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow in the Pinecrest Solarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or The Canadian Cancer Society.</div>
