Lois Jane Rideout (nee Purdie)

May 13, 1928 -  October 23, 2020



Peacefully in her 92nd year, at West End Villa.

Beloved mother of Kenneth (deceased 2018) and Sharon (deceased 2020) of Ottawa, and Donald (Donna) of Toronto, and grandmother of Kristin (Adam) and Michael.

Predeceased by her parents Rev. Thomas Day Purdie and Agnes Jane Purdie of Ottawa. Also by her brother Rev. David Purdie (Margaret).

Lois, a lifelong resident of Ottawa, enjoyed time with family and friends, drives in the country, and listening to gospel music.

Special thanks to Mavis Mason , close friend and advocate, for her care and compassion over the years, to Rev. Sam McDargh whose spiritual support and guidance provided great solace and happiness to Lois, and to the many caregivers at West End Villa.

Funeral arrangements through Cole Funeral Services. Interment at Highland Park Cemetery in Carp.

Lois, you were truly an inspiration, one I will never forget. You fought through so many personal tragedies, yet through out walked in God’s grace...as a believer. As I look now at your picture, I remember your easy smile and delight in all that is feminine. Necklaces, shiny rings and fancy hair clips. Your greatest delight for some years, was a visit to Shoppers Drug store, via Paratranspo. A Mecca of treasures waiting just for you. A smile definitely comes to mind as I remember dozens of doughnuts and the like hidden in your oven. There were never too many watches...
RIP Lois, where your children await you. Godspeed.XX
