In Celebration of

Leopold Edwin Siberg

November 12, 1928 -  November 13, 2020

With broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Leopold at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on Friday, November 13, 2020 at the age of 92 years, with his beloved Maria by his side. Loving and cherished partner to Maria Amati. Son of the late Uno and Ellen Siberg. Brother to Sally Wallin. Leo will be dearly missed by all his church family at the North River Road Gospel Hall, other relatives and friends.

Leo enlisted in the RCAF after completing his education and he trained as an aircraft mechanic. Upon retirement as a Master Corporal after 20 years of Military Service, he worked for General Dynamics in Bells Corners for another 20 years.

Leo travelled to his parents’ native country, Finland, as well as Germany, Italy, and Switzerland during his military service.

Beyond Earth there is Heaven. Soon after Maria met Leo 16 years ago, he told her that Jesus would always be his first love. She respected him for that, and it made her feel very close to him.

Thanks to Hardy Baker, D.C. for acting as a faithful helper and companion to Leo.

Special thanks to Dr. Jonah Marek, who was the attending physician for the past 3 years of Leo's life on this Earth. Thank you, Dr. Marek, for being a true physician and doing all you could to ensure Leo had a good quality of life. Thank you also for respecting my devotion to Leo as his partner in life and the love of Jesus.

Thank you to Lillian MacDougall and her late husband Raeburn, Kenneth and Doris Taylor for their support and performing the funeral service, the members of the North River Road Gospel Hall for their visits during Leo’s time in the care facility.

Finally, thank you to Marilyn Spencer, a long-time friend from the Salvation Army and Woodvale Pentecostal Church, and her husband Wesley.
