ZIEGLER, ELISE
1922-2015
Peacefully surrounded by her children at the Alta Vista Retirement Community May 3rd, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Edgar Ziegler. Much loved mother of Anette (late Gerard Legault), Marianne (late James Sheridan), Ulla (Tom Potter), Mark (Bonnie Ziegler) and Tina (Stefan Zaichkowski). Cherished “MorMor” of 9 Grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren. Elise worked for the City Hall in Denmark and as Translator of Scandinavian languages for Secretary of State in Ottawa. Elise was honoured in 1996 by the Canadian Jewish Congress for her bravery in saving lives during the war. Elise and Edgar’s life was documented in 1998 by the Steven Spielberg’s USC Shoah Foundation (sfi.usc.edu). Elise was the co-founding member of the Danish Club of Ottawa and the Danish Book Club. Despite all of her achievements, her proudest role was as a caring mother and devoted wife to Edgar. A celebration of Elise’s life will be held at the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel (2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa) Saturday May 9 at 2:30 pm. We wish to thank MLC Health Care Services, as well as the palliative team of St. Elizabeth and Alta Vista. Donations to Parkinson Society Ottawa will be greatly appreciated by the family (www.parkinsons.ca).
