<div itemprop="description">In peace at last, surrounded by his family, with loving care at Ruddy Shenkman Hospice, on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at the age of 87 years. Ben was born on January 1, 1932 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Loving husband of Lise (nee Dekker). Adoring father of Jeffrey Babelowsky and Jennifer (John) Geleta. Proud grandfather of Jason (Kathy). Sadly missed by sisters Frederika, Anna Maria (Cher) Turel, Pauline (Nico) Hoogland, and numerous nephews and cousins in the Netherlands. Predeceased by his mother Helena Antonia Maria Babeliowsky (Pryden), father Bernardus Joannes Antonius Babeliowsky, and sister Markye Babeliowsky (Cadoret). Ben proudly worked at the Ottawa Citizen for 30 years as Director of Public Relations and Education. His passion was to share through the gift of his art, he raised 100’s of thousands of dollars for local and world wide charities through the Ottawa Citizen and privately. Ben was an avid fisherman and proud member of the Abbotsford Fishing camp in Quebec. Many wonderful memories with his family and many fishing buddies. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sahajpal and the wonderful staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, floor 3D team, Doctors and nurses and all the wonderful volunteers at Ruddy Shenkman for their loving care and support. Please say a private prayer in memory of Ben. A Private Family Service will be held at a later date. If friends so desire, memorial donations made to Hospice Care Ottawa or to the Ottawa Humane Society would be appreciated. Online condolences can be made at www.colefuneralservices.com</div>
