<div itemprop="description">Robert Peter Notman <br>June 18, 1922 <br> <br>Allan passed away peacefully in Ottawa on Saturday, June 23rd at age 96. Predeceased by his son Paul, sister Ruth (Kelly) and his wife Maisie, the love of his life for 63 years (MIZPAH). Many thanks to his companion Pat Barr. Allan will be greatly missed by his children David (Andrea), Laird (Melanie), Janet (Matt) and Rob (Nancy). Bampa/Poppa was very much loved by his grandchildren Paul (Sherri), Scott (Laura), Jody (Justin), Melissa (Matt), Jessica (Sean), Sarah (Andreas), Emily (Matt), Jeffery (Melanie), Adam (Sarah), Heather, and Allan (Rachael). Great-Bampa was also much loved and proud of his many great-grandchildren. Born in Montreal, Allan served in the Canadian Army during the Second World War alongside his father. As part of a Reconnaissance unit Allan actively took part in the liberation of The Netherlands in the battle of the Scheldt estuary. He recently was awarded the Légion d'honneur, the highest distinction awarded by the Republic of France, that pays tribute to those living Canadian Veterans who took part in the campaign to liberate France. Allan worked for the Robert Simpson Company (The Bay) for over 40 years and retired as an executive. His career at Simpson’s took his family from Montreal to Halifax to Toronto to Montreal and finally to Ottawa. In his retirement, Allan was a consummate merchandiser and became the top salesperson for Innovation. Allan was an avid golfer and a life long member of the Royal Ottawa Golf Club. He will be missed very much by his many friends and family. The perfect gentleman. <br>Visitation will be held at Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road on Thursday, June 28 from 5 to 8 pm. Celebration of Life to be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. <br><br></div>
