<div itemprop="description">Passed away peacefully at home on August 8, 2018. Greatly loved and loving husband and best friend of Christina Zehaluk for 35 years. Proud and loving father of Dr. Maryla Paleolog (John) and Gregory Paleolog (Diana) and grandfather of Ryan and Tate McCaffrey, Nicholas Paleolog, and Natalia and Charlotte Cutcliffe. Will be greatly missed by sister-in-law Anna and brother-in-law Vince Perta, their children and families.<br><br>Zygmunt was born in Lwow, Poland to Maria and Adam Paleolog. He was predeceased by his brothers Zbigniew and Wieslaw and is survived by family in the United Kingdom. He was a very proud descendant of the Paleolog dynasty, the last rulers of Byzantium. <br><br>Zygmunt participated in the Warsaw uprising prior to immigrating to England and then to Canada, first living in Montreal and later in Ottawa.<br><br>Zygmunt was a pharmaceutical chemist with a history of work in the drug industry in Montreal and then with the Drug Program at Health Canada. He was a passionate equestrian and a keen fisherman … passions he shared with his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a kind and sweet-tempered gentleman, with a sense of humour, always willing to help. <br><br>The family would like to offer heartfelt thanks to Adair Henderson, Connie Cyr and Doreen Buffam, for their care and kindness through the last three years.<br><br>A memorial reception for family and friends will be held at the Pinecrest Remembrance Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa on Saturday, August 18, 2018, from 2 to 5 pm in the afternoon. <br><br>In memoriam donations may be made to the charity of your choice.<br></div>
