In Celebration of

William Andrew McCloy

May 24, 1929 -  October 24, 2020

Passed away peacefully on October 24, 2020. Beloved husband of the late Margaret. Loving father of Andrea (the late Robert) and Hilary (Dan). Proud grandfather of Serena. Dear brother of Belle and predeceased by Bobby and Margaret. Son of the late James and Rachel McCloy. A special uncle to many nieces and nephews and will be missed by his many family and friends.

William (Bill), a retired professional electrical engineer, enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the private and public sectors. His love of the sea and ships influenced his career from ship trials and inspections, and project manager of the government Polar 8 Icebreaker project for 14 years and retiring from the Coast Guard/Transport Canada. He travelled extensively throughout the world, representing Canada on a number of committees. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge and a prior Worshipful Master. Music and singing was an important part of his life, and spent many happy times as a member of the Knox United Church Choir and the Nepean Songsters in recent years.

Bill's family wish to thank the staff and doctors at the Queensway Carleton Hospital for the care provided over the past few weeks and to thank the Crystal View Lodge for their kindness and support shown to our father during his residence.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made either to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Ottawa Humane Society.

A private family service will be held on Monday, November 2, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. with interment at Pinecrest Cemetery afterward.

Although the service is restricted to family only, they wish to invite friends and family to view the service remotely.
