Vincent Michael Midgley
September 7, 1931 – July 5, 2017
Died peacefully at Hillel Lodge here he received compassionate care for almost five years. Beloved husband for over sixty years of Grace (McMullin) and loving father of the late Allan (Heather Tomalty) of Brentwood Bay B.C. and Bruce of Whistler, B.C. Cherished Grandpa to Jasmine (Ottawa) and Sean (Brentwood Bay, B.C.). Predeceased by his parents, Reginald and Gwendolyn (Townsend) Midgley and his brother David (Rolande) of Pemberton B.C. Survived by brother of Arnold (Caroline) and caring uncle to his nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his extended family.
Vince was active at Camp Fortune as a Trail Rider, Night Rider, racer and coach and was a member of the Britannia Yacht Club since his teens. He enjoyed camping, cottage life and chasing golf balls with his buddies. A dedicated volunteer, he was fun-loving and an especially good listener.
His body has been donated to the University of Ottawa. Special thanks to Dr. D. Levine and the staff at Hillel Lodge, particularly those on 3-E who cared for Vincent; to Jody, a devoted nephew; to Stephanie Howard and to the Crazy 8’s.
The love and support of family and friends have made a real difference in the quality of Vince’s life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Britannia Yacht Club, 2777 Cassels Street, Ottawa on Sunday, July 16th from 2 p.m until 4 p.m.
