Stafford, Sheila Jacquelin (nee Wilks)
Sheila Jacqueline Stafford passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 11, 2018 at age 92 . She will be dearly missed by her sons David (Barbara), Nigel (Bonnie), Simon (Lynne), Robin (Sheila) and Kevin (Bryan), her 14 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren, close friends and neighbours. Her warmth, welcoming heart and home with tins filled with cookies and tea by the fire will be greatly missed.

Immigrated to Canada from England with husband Charles (d.2001) in 1953. Longtime resident of Aylmer, Quebec before moving to Ottawa in 2008. Sheila worked as a supply teacher and manpower teacher for the school board of Western Quebec, and later as a Peer Counsellor for seniors at Family Service Ottawa. Along with husband Charles, founded Stafford Associates in 1980, which provided training and workshops in Human Relations and most notably, assertive communication. Sheila touched positively the lives of hundreds of Ottawan's through this work.

At the age of 80 she joined ACT Company theatre production in Aylmer where she had a starring role as Cookie in Neil Simon's Rumours and later served as a English Accent advisor. Sheila loved gardening, flowers, dogs - she always had a dog biscuit in her pocket to treat a friend - and feeding the birds and squirrels. An avid camper - she once made strawberry jam on a Coleman stove - she learned to drive on a land-rover on the rugged hills of Wales. An extra ordinary cook and baker - she was always able to whip together a meal from seemingly nothing. These are all examples of how she embraced life with enthusiasm, compassion and a great deal of common sense. Deeply loved, highly respected, greatly missed and always in our hearts. Power to your journey Mum.

In lieu of flowers Sheila has asked that people plant a tree, shrub, or flowers in a garden in both memory of her and in support of our environment.
