<div itemprop="description">Peacefully in the company of his daughter on Friday May 19, 2017 in his 79th year, Robert Jefferey "Bob" Walker passed away at the Ottawa Heart Institute. Beloved son of Gordon Hamilton Walker and Elleda Marcella Walker (both predeceased). Loving father of Doreen Ann Poole-Flintoff (husband Billy), loving Grandfather of Amanda Jessica Poole. Bob also predeceases his loving wife of 50 years, Ruth Eleanor Walker. Predeceased by his step son to Brad Lajoie. Bob was also a loving father in law to Maryann Lajoie and Grampa to Billy Lajoie, Daniela Lajoie and Ciera Lajoie. <br> <br>Bob was born in Hamilton, Ontario on August 28, 1937 and grew up in Lynden, Ontario. Bob moved to Ottawa as a young adult and became a Pilot for the Canadian Air Force from approximately 1956 to 1960. In 1960 Bob began his 28-year career as an Air Traffic Controller at the Ottawa Airport where he worked until his retirement in 1988. <br> <br>Bob was actively involved in Barbershop and Chorus in Ottawa for over 50 years. Bob was an accomplished Baritone with an award-winning Quartet named "The Sound Proposition". Bob was also a revered Director with the Capital City Chorus as well as the Capital City Chordettes for many years. <br> <br>Bob was an accomplished golfer for the majority of his adult life. When he retired, he became a Marshall for numerous Golf Tournaments in and around the Ottawa area. He so loved the game he managed to get himself a position with the Marshes Golf Course where he played up until his recent onset of illness. <br> <br>A master at everything he tried he also became an accomplished and successful Curler and was a member of the Ottawa Granite Club for many years. <br> <br>We wish to thank all of the amazing Doctors and Nurses in the CSICU at the Ottawa Heart Institute. The care and support provided was nothing short of stellar. Bob will be missed by all family and friends and his infectious wit will be terribly missed. Everyone who met and knew Bob was touched by his outgoing friendly demeanor and humour. <br> <br>Family and friends are invited to visit at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre (2500 Baseline Road) on Tuesday, May 23rd from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Pinecrest Chapel on Wednesday, May 24th at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Pinecrest Cemetery, followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments. <br> <br>In lieu of flowers, donations to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated. <br></div>
