<div itemprop="description">Randolph Leon Archibald Coddett, born August 8th, 1941 in New Amsterdam, Berbice, Guyana died in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on June 26, 2018. He was a Berbice High School and Queens College alumnus. He attended Howard University (Class of 1965) where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. He came to Canada in 1965 to attend graduate school at McGill University in Montreal. In 1967, he was recruited by the Federal Public Service where he began his professional life as an Economist/Statistician with Statistics Canada. While there, he attended Carleton University and completed his Master’s degree in Public Administration. His final assignment in the Public Service was with the Department of Industry, Trade, and Commerce. <br> <br>He was a community pioneer in Ottawa, contributing to the creation of what is now the Guyana Ottawa Cultural Association. Over the years he continued to be an advisor and participant in Guyanese community activities. He served for several years as president of the East Ottawa Lions Track and Field Club. He was also a successful community business owner establishing one of Ottawa's first black owned businesses, Nu Skin Hair Fashions. <br> <br>He is survived by former spouse Yvonne de Jonge, his children (Gary Marc Anthony Thompson (deceased), Adrienne Coddett, Angela Coddett and Steven Belgrave) and his grandchildren (Rachel Thompson, Marc Anthony Thompson, Marissa Belgrave and Marcus Belgrave). He is predeceased by his oldest brother Mortimer Coddett and survived by siblings Yvonne Edwards, Waveney Johnson, Winston Coddett, and Mae Cummings. He will be missed by his numerous nieces and nephews for whom he cared dearly. His legacy will live on <br>. <br>“Well done thy good and faithful servant. Only true leaders serve."
