<div itemprop="description">Mrs.&nbsp;Raj Rani Agarwal, aged 82, died peacefully on October 16th, 2016 at her residence in Ottawa. Raj was born on December 25th, 1933, in Lyallpur (now known as Faisalabad), India, before the partition of India and Pakistan. She was the youngest daughter of Lal Davi (mother) and Tara Chand (father), a lawyer who supported Mahatma Gandhi's Indian Independence Movement.&nbsp; <br>&nbsp; <br>Raj attained a Masters in&nbsp;Statistics before&nbsp;teaching English and Statistics in Shimla and Ambala,&nbsp;India. She moved to Canada in 1961, shortly after her marriage to Ram Gopal Agarwal. She lived in Regina, Edmonton and Calgary where she worked and took courses towards a PhD in Statistics. In&nbsp;1974, she settled in Ottawa,&nbsp;where she worked for Energy Mines and Resources for over 25 years. <br>&nbsp; <br>Raj had an&nbsp;adventurous and ambitious spirit. &nbsp;She loved the outdoors and used to take long walks along the Ottawa River, grow vegetables and herbs in her garden&nbsp;and grafted roses as a hobby. &nbsp;She was active, playing &nbsp;badminton and tennis in the summers and learned to&nbsp;downhill ski and figure skate in the winters. &nbsp;She also had an artistic side which was evident in her paintings and her recital of poetry. &nbsp; <br>&nbsp; <br>She is survived by her husband Ram Gopal, her daughter Rashma Agarwal, son-in-law Sreedhar Pinnamaneni&nbsp;and grandson Nikash Pinnamaneni as well as extended family in&nbsp;India and Canada. <br> <br>She was preceded in death by her brother, Gyan Chand Aggarwal and sister Om Wati Jindle. <br>&nbsp; <br>In lieu of flowers, donations are requested&nbsp;to the Ottawa Hearth Institute. <br> <br>A Hindu ceremony will be held at the Pinecrest Remembrance Centre&nbsp;at 9:00 am on October 23, 2016.</div>
