<div itemprop="description">It is with great sadness and peace that we announce the passing of Raffaella Zumpano on April 9, 2017. Despite her long journey with cancer, Raffaella lived life to the fullest until the very end. Born in Rovito, Italy, Raffaella made the trip to Canada as a young girl. Her father settled in Regina, Saskatchewan where he created a successful leathercraft business to look after his family, which is still going strong as a family run business. Growing up, Raffaella’s family opened their home to many other new Canadians and friends in need, a practice Raffaella continued once she moved to Ottawa and had a family of her own. Other Italian traditions that have continued here in Canada include “loud talking” and the intense need to make sure people are fed with a tall glass of wine. Raffaella will be remembered for her wonderful cooking and the loving welcome she gave to her friends and family and anyone who walked through her door. Raffaella was a woman of grace and will be forever loved and remembered by her husband, Fernand, and her daughters Tonia (D’Arcy) and Andrea (Paul). She is survived by her mother, Mafalda, her sister Rosetta (Jack) and brother Alfredo (Svetlana). We are grateful for the many memories she created with her grandchildren, or “little loveys”, Dylan, Olivia, Matéo and Arianna. Raffaella lived a life of travel, with friends and family, gardening, cooking and entertaining. She took great pride in her dedication to her family and her close friends, which will be greatly missed. Raffaella would like to say a huge thank you to Dr. Stan Gertler and all the staff on the 5th floor, Oncology ward, at the General Hospital, as well as the Palliative Care team at the Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital. Raffaella has asked for a private memorial at the Pinecrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.</div>
