<div itemprop="description">We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of renowned Ottawa psychiatrist, Dr. Mona A. Leroy, on Saturday January 5, 2019, at the tender age of 86. <br>Mona passed away peacefully at Viva Assisted Living Facility. <br> <br>Born to Persigny and Kelita Leroy in Jacmel, Haiti, Dr. Mona Leroy made Canada her home since 1960, where she continued her medical training, raised her 6 children with then husband Dr. Jean-Maurice Dennery, and built a thriving psychiatry practice where she focused on abused women.. <br> <br>Mona was known as a wise and gentle soul, with laser wit. Through her work, and with her very presence, she touched the lives of many far and wide, <br>Beloved wife, mother, and partner, Mona Leroy passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children and her partner. <br> <br>She leaves in sorrow her children Dominique, Phyllis ( Gregory Mundy), Gabriella (Gina Jefferson) Pascale (Arvern Lofton), Morice (Trisha Sylvia) and Christian (Dolores Lagdameo), her cherished grandchildren Adrien (Ann-Marie), Ariana and Miles, Emmanuel, Joshua, Erika, Jaden, Ava and Gabriel and her partner of 33 years Bob Baker. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and friends. <br> <br>The family wishes to thank the staff at Viva for caring for Mona in the last months of her life. <br> <br>Mona loved flowers so feel free to send these.
