RUSHCER, Michael
Lt Col. RCEME (Retired)

Peacefully at the age of 94 on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. Predeceased by his wife Winifred Sharon Day in 1979. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy as he is survived by his children Michael (Bonnie), Paul, Robyn (Tim); grandchildren Christine-Ann, Kara-Lynn, Michael, Cassandra-Sharon and Kellie-Lauren; great-grandchildren Cameron, Matthew, Maryanne, Evan, Ethan and Brycen; and great-great-grandchildren Daemyn and Everleigh. He had a distinguished military career as an officer that included tours of duty in Korea 1953-54, in the Gaza Strip 1958-1959 (U.N) and as an exchange officer with the British War Office, 1962-64 in the UK. He was a proud member of Kingsville Branch 188 of the Royal Canadian Legion where he raised a few with friends. Mike enjoyed much of his retirement on the links with family and friends as an active golfer and executive member of the Kingsville Golf and Country Club. He spent several years with his brothers (pre-deceased), Paul (Woggie) and John, playing the sport he truly loved. When he wasn't golfing, he travelled, often with his dear companion Helen. Many thanks to cousin Dannie and family who were always there for him before his return to Ottawa. He will be greatly missed by the Ruscher and Metcalfe extended families in Canada and Germany, who will cherish many fond memories. A Memorial Service will take place at Cole Funeral Services & Pinecrest Remembrance, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow in the Pinecrest Solarium. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County, (1750 Russell Rd Suite 1742, Ottawa, ON K1G 5Z6) would be appreciated by the family.
