<div itemprop="description">Mary Elizabeth Mackey age 104 died peacefully at Maycourt Hospice on March 19th, 2019 just 6 days after a wonderful celebration of her 104th birthday, . Born in Westboro (Ottawa) March 13, 1915, the only child of Emily and Jack Welch both deceased. Married to William "Bud" Mackey (deceased 1984) and mother of Ruthmary Harris (Michael deceased) Ottawa, Virginia Hamer (Doug) Deanlea Beach Georgian Bay, Dixie Staples (Len) Nepean, John (Susan) Brockville, Tom (Denise) Perth, Marylou (Robin) Duncan BC. <br> <br>Mom was the very proud grandmother of 19 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren. Mom and Dad had wonderful lives which included their children and their grandchildren, trips to many parts of the world, summers at Norway Bay and many winters at their lovely home in Grenada. Everyone who knew Mom knew of her very special love of the piano and classical music. She studied at The Juilliard School in New York City and taught classical piano until she was 99. She performed in concerts in several cities in NA and the Caribbean and was a life member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association. <br> <br>The family wish to thank her many wonderful friends for their friendship and caring some of whom spanned most of her life. Thank you to the staff of Amica at Westboro Park for their caring and assistance to mom during her 7 happy years as a resident and her lovely friends there as well. <br> <br>A special thank you to Dr. Daniel Vincent, the amazing nurses, staff and volunteers at the Maycourt Hospice for their care and kindness during her stay there. You are a very special group of people. <br> <br>There will be a private burial at the Pinecrest Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life at the Pinecrest Reception Centre, 2500 Baseline Road on Saturday, April 20th, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
