Mary Aldwinckle
September 20, 1921 - August 5, 2018
Aldwinckle, Mary, passed away unexpectedly in her residence on 5 August 2018. Preceded in death by husband Robert “Wink” and son Ian. Will be deeply missed by son Robert, daughter Faith (John) Farr, son John (Liz), grandchildren Megan and Philip, sister-in-law Phyllis Thompson and many nieces and nephews.
Blindness in recent years prevented her from enjoying her life-long interests in individual sports, community activities and card games. She was especially proud of her leadership in neighbourhood zoning battles in the 1960s and 1970s.
The family wants to extend sincere thanks to the many caregivers who supported Mary in the last few years, including Eloise Bruner from Action Potential, Bev Fagyan, Courtenay Carriere and others from Home Instead, and many from the Redwoods Retirement Residence where she lived.
Visitation will be held at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Rd, on Monday, August 13, 2018 from 1:00 pm. until time of the service in the chapel at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Heart & Stroke Foundation or Parkinson’s Society Ottawa.
