Mary Adelaide “Addie” Male
On Monday, February 18th, 2019, a loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away suddenly at the age of 84. Addie is survived by her children Brian (Shelley) and Shelly Adams (Bob), her siblings Marian Blair (Richard), Penny Armstrong (Ralph), and Alec England. She was a caring grandmother to Megan, Dana, Kelsey and Courtney. Addie was recently predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Sidney Thomas Male. She is also predeceased by her parents Marie Lapointe (White) and Frank Lapointe and her siblings Kathleen Burgess (Lapointe), Gerald Lapointe, June Campbell (Lapointe), and Robert England. Addie lived most of her life in Ottawa working in retail, taxation and the school board. The roles she took greatest pride in were those of wife, mother and grandmother. She was devoted to her family and will be remembered for her strength and wisdom. She was a fantastic baker, often spoiling her family with pies and Nanaimo bars on holidays or “just because”. Addie and Sid enjoyed treasured vacations spent in Florida where the family travelled frequently. Addie will be remembered by her loved ones for her elegance, warmth and generosity and for teaching them the importance of family and tradition. She was a beautiful woman inside and out. The family finds comfort in knowing that she is reunited with the love of her life, Sid.
A Celebration of Addie’s Life will take place at Cole Funeral Services & Pinecrest Remembrance, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Arthritis Society.
