Marjorie Edith Andrews (nee Burnett)

Sunrise: May 9th, 1928
Sunset: June 4th, 2017

It is with deep, insurmountable sadness that after a two month struggle, we announce the passing of Marjorie, quietly at home in the presence of and comforted by her daughter, Donna Lea early Sunday morning. Finally reunited with her husband, best friend and partner Bruce (2011) with whom she shared 64 years of marriage, and who she loved deeply and completely. Also reunited, after 20 long years, with her beloved eldest son Ken.

Marjorie leaves behind to mourn and to celebrate many family members and friends who can remember Marjorie as the Matriarch of a family she was very proud of. Like her husband Bruce she was a proud, funny, independent and sweet person - generous to a fault with her kindness, time and energy. Many of their accomplishments were never known to most, as they did not seek to be recognized for things that they did, but for the joy it gave them to help. Mom spent the last five years of her life living beside her daughter and son-in-law, enjoying the wildlife and nature that was so dear to her, and sharing many more happy memories. We will be forever grateful for the extra time we had with mom.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter Donna Lea, her beloved son-in-law Brian Bell, her much loved daughter-in-law Sheila and her son Stephen (Jennifer). She is also survived by her grandchildren Jennifer, Amanda (Damian), Andrea (Brad), Pamela and Courtney. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Ashton, Elliott, Aoife, Lonan, Seija and Kylen. We will be forever grateful that Andrea and her family were able to share visits the last 2 years with mom, and that her great-grandchildren will have lasting memories of their happy times in Ottawa.

Mom was looked after for the past five years of her life by private caregivers. The friendships she formed with many of these women will never be broken. We owe a debt of deep gratitude to Krista Deacon for the love and companionship she provided to "mom". She engaged mom constantly, which in retrospect kept her with us for her last few years. Hours spent in Chapters and the Antrim Truck Stop for good times and "retail therapy" will never be forgotten. Also our heartfelt thanks to the caregivers with her these last few months - who all went beyond what was expected - Josie, Joni, Jean and Kim.
Thank you also to Dr. Splinter - again - for making mom's last days comfortable. Thank you to the At Home Hospice Team - Audrey, Linda and Carol - who kept our family sane and mom so well looked after. Thank you to 2 very new PSW members, Amatullah and Tracy, who were so gracious with mom yet only knew her for a few days. Deep appreciation to our friend and neighbour, Dr. Anna McCormick, who befriended mom years ago, assisted her on her final journey and who has always been an amazing friend and neighbour to Brian and Donna Lea.

At Marjorie's request there will be no visitation. Service will be held at Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road on Wednesday, June 7th at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow.
"Hold Dear to your Parents, for it's a confusing and scary world without them."
