<div itemprop="description">Born in Sudbury, Ontario, on June 24, 1939, Marisa Martin died peacefully at her Ottawa home Wednesday June 12, 2019; attended by her children and children-in-law. She is survived by her brother (Livio) and sister (Cesira) and survived by her children Victor, Renzo (Carole Anne Piccinin), Elena, and Martin (Hiyam Jibry) and grandchildren, Sarra, Isabella, Matteo, and Cesare. Having married Loris Cecchetto (div. 1995) they raised their children with lots of time at the camp on Lake Nepawassi, and at the other camp in the bush (Manitoulin) and many adventures with family and friends. Marisa will be forever remembered for her insatiable appetite of nature, the company of her friends and family, reading, and observing her kids/grandkids enjoy each other's company and eat her delicious meals. Marisa will also be remembered for her ability to be strong and confident in her convictions and progressive thinking. As a teenager she was determined to work and save up enough money to pay for her and her mother's travel to meet and visit with relatives in Italy. She did so when she was 20. As an adult she tirelessly enjoyed raising (successfully, we'd like to add) her children. Once those children were off enjoying the fulfillment of their own ambitions, she travelled various parts of the world and hosted travellers at her B&B on her beloved Manitoulin Island. As a grandmother she expressed the definition of success as knowing you pursued your goals as best you could. She exuded a spirit for life and card-playing that was always evident to anyone she met. She spent time at the Paudash camp or in hockey arenas watching her grandchildren perform and grow. We’ll miss you greatly Mom, but your spirit and kindness will always be remembered and exhibited by your children and grandchildren. A drop-in celebration of life will be held at the Kanata Senior Centre, 2500 Campeau Dr, Sunday, June 16, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. A further memorial will be held in Sudbury on a date TBD. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.</div>
