<div itemprop="description">GRATTON, Margaret Anne (nee Jurik) <br> <br>Margaret Gratton, affectionately known as “Maman” passed away on Mother’s Day, May <br>14, 2017 at the age of 93. She was born on October 22, 1923 in Mojtin, Slovakia a small <br>village in the Tatra Mountains. Margaret was the oldest of 3 children and her family <br>immigrated to Canada in 1937. They arrived in Halifax and made their way to Toronto <br>where she met her husband Raymond Joseph. They married in 1948 then moved to <br>Ottawa where they had 5 children between 1950 and 1961. Margaret proudly retained her <br>Slovak traditions and language. She was an avid baker, gardener and herbalist and <br>maintained a strong bond with her Roman Catholic faith. <br> <br>Margaret was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Josephine (nee Kucera), sister Ann and brother Frank <br>(Rosemary). She was also predeceased by her son Raymond Henri, who died tragically in <br>1975. Margaret will be laid to rest beside him at Pinecrest Cemetery. Margaret is survived by husband Ray, children Elaine Towell (Garvin, deceased), Robert, Francois (Barbara) and Marguerite (Fraser). Maman is <br>also survived by grandchildren Julie (Jaime), Lainie, Ben (Aaron), Patrick (Teagan), Carolyn as well as great-grandchildren Jesse, Danika, Charlotte, Julianna and Kohen. <br> <br>The funeral will be held at Saint Bonaventure Church, 1359 Chatelain Avenue at 11:00 a.m. <br>on Saturday, May 20 followed by reception in the parish hall. <br> <br></div>
