Louis John Debly passed away peacefully at home on May 30, 2020. Born on March 23, 1926 at Belleisle Creek, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Louis and Montoura Debly. He predeceased his siblings Joseph, Francis, Sarah, Asied, Mary & Raymond. Beloved husband of Charlotte Debly (El-Khoury), loving father of Karam (Larra) and Sheila (Matthew) and proud grandfather of Tyler, Francis, Louis, Austin and Helena. He will be missed by many family and friends.

He graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 1947 with a degree in civil engineering. He then went on to complete his Masters degree at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He spent most of his engineering career with V.K. Mason where he oversaw the construction of many buildings in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec including Place Guy Favreau, Alexis Nihon, Dawson College, Faubourg Tower, Ottawa Congress Centre, Carlingwood Mall, Westin Hotel Ottawa and the National Arts Centre. He loved the construction business, gardening and was a hobby butcher. He was a founding member of the Ottawa Maronite Association and the Chairman of the Ottawa Construction Association in 1984.

Louis’ family wishes to thank their family and friends for their kindness and support during this difficult time.

A private family service will be held and interment at Pinecrest Cemetery, Ottawa.

Wow! You always learn so much about someone after they pass away... I knew about the construction part of his life, but not all those noteworthy buildings in my home city of Montreal! Wow! On a more present-day note, I am so sorry for your loss... Many hugs to all of you and I will be there in the background at the online funeral tomorrow. Love, Simone
