Leo Cooney
October 22, 1954 - April 17, 2019
Leo Cooney
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden death of Leo Cooney, 64, of Dunrobin, Ontario. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Carolyn, and his children Krista (Ian), James (Joanne), Julia (Patrick), and Linda (Dan) as well as his grandchildren Liam, Evan and Madeline, April, Jacob, Katrina, and Joshua (expected), Isabelle, Luke, Adara, Angeline, Helena, and Harper. Survived, as well, by his loving, extended family.
Brilliant, kind, and hard-working, Leo will be remembered by his family as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He had a deep love of nature, including the vast communities of wild songbirds he cared for and fed. His heart belonged to the country; he did not suffer fools gladly. His loyalty to those he loved was unswerving. His incomparable strength and loyalty and his unwavering compassion meant he touched many lives in his too-short time on this Earth. Leo will be dearly missed.
Friends and family may visit at the Pinecrest Visitation Center, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa on Thursday, April 25th, from 5-9 p.m. Funeral Mass to be held at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 1135 March Road, Kanata, on Saturday, April 27th at 11 a.m
