Lawrence John Halman

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden death of Larry at home on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the age of 81. Survived by his beloved wife Doris (Johnston) just short of their 60th wedding anniversary. Son of the late Rita (Chapman) and Harry Halman. Father of Richard, Barry (Jackie), Amber (Steve) and Ian (Nancy). Cherished grandfather of Lindsay, Kendra, Jordan, Amelia, Charles and Adam. Predeceased by sisters and brothers Lillianne, Kenneth, Robert, James, Cecil, Reginald, Ella, Frances, Laura and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Greatly missed by his Athabasca Family. Larry could be described as a golfaholic and was rewarded for 50 years of perseverance with not one but two holes in one and loved organizing and playing in the Halman Family Golf Tournament. He was also a great fan of the Ottawa Senators. His early life was in the Miramichi region of New Brunswick until he joined the Canadian Air Force where he met his wife. After several jobs in Ottawa he joined the Canadian Postal service where he worked until his retirement. He then drove school buses and spent 8 years as a driver with OC Transpo. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 2 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
