<div itemprop="description">Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 12th, 2012. Predeceased by his loving wife Jadwiga Sophia Zarzycki (nee Wolska). He will be sadly missed by his loving daughter Barbara Mantha (nee Zarzycki) and his loving son Gregory Zarzycki of Los Angeles as well as his grandchildren Lindsay and Jonathan. Dr. Zarzycki directed the acquisition and management of geographic information, photogrammetric mapping, remote sensing, railway location, geodetic and resource surveys in Canada, South America, Africa, the Middle East, Australia and the Caribbean. He provided leadership and pioneered the development and implementation of digital methods in photogrammetry, automated cartography, Geographic Information Systems and integration of digital mapping with remote sensing and GIS technologies. In 1981 Dr. Zarzycki became the first non US citizen to be elected as President of the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing in addition to his position as the President of the Canadian Institute of Geomatics. He was very proud to have been awarded the Officers Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland. Visitation will be held at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, on Friday, June 22nd from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at the St. Hyacinth Polish Church, 201 LeBreton St. North, Ottawa on Saturday, June 23rd at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 5215, Jean-Talon Street West, Montreal, QC H4P 1X4 would be appreciated. <br /> <br /> </div>
