Loving and generous Oma to Graham (Jessica), Leah (Eric), Philip (Julia) Benjamin (Bomberg) and great-grandchildren: Oliver, Emery, Jamie and Riley. She will be deeply missed by her sister Amanda (Mojsiuk), brother Edmund (Brigitte) Scholl, sister-in-law Alice (Scholl) and nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered by many in Sudbury, where she made the family home for 39 years, and Ottawa, where she resided the last 28 years.

Herta was born in Kalisz, Poland where she lived through WW2. After a few years in Germany, she immigrated to Canada in 1952 to start a new life.

Herta loved to sing. She laughed easily, expressed gratefulness regardless of her circumstances, and was ever optimistic. Her home was always welcoming, especially through her delicious cooking.

She loved Jesus Christ and would share that with whoever came into her circle. Her whole life, she faithfully prayed to God to give her strength to endure whatever was in store and trusted that he would provide. When she was recently told that she did not have much longer to live she exclaimed, “I’m going home” with great anticipation and certainty. She is now home with Jesus.

Special thanks to Dr. Lloyd Rossman and staff at Salvation Army Grace Manor for their care over the last 4 years.
Friends can visit at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre (2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa) from 2-5 on Sunday February 2, 2020.
