Hermann E. Reinert, March 31, 1924 – January 11, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our father, Hermann Reinert,
after a brief battle with cancer. Hermann passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving
family. Predeceased by his parents Eugen & Ottilie Reinert, brother Ernst Reinert and
his sister Liselotte Bulmer.

Hermann is survived by and deeply missed by his beloved wife, Rita, and his 3 loving
daughters, Esther (Steve), Kathy (Geoff) and Gina (Dan). Hermann was a devoted Opa
to his grandchildren Brady (Jiwon), Matthew, Katie (Jeff), Allie (John) and Dakota
(Kaylea) as well as his great-grandchildren Sadie & Oliver.

Hermann and Rita immigrated to Canada from Wangen im Allgau, Germany, in 1951.
With hard work, perseverance and non-stop drive Hermann and his late partner, Max
Natterer, started and ran a successful electrical contracting company, Federal Electric
Ltd. He was very proud to have been part of the construction of many major
government buildings, hospitals and schools in Ottawa. Moving into property
management, they started Reinmax Management Co, building and managing many hirise
apartment buildings around the city. Even after his retirement, he continued to
be a part of the business and often enjoyed lively business discussions with the family.

Hermann and Rita travelled extensively and shared many wonderful adventures and
made amazing memories around the world. Their favourite memories were RV
travel, skiing in Aspen and time spent in Florida and at the family cottage. Hermann
was an avid skier, golfer and hiker as well as a long term regular at CMH heli-skiing,
amassing over 3 million vertical feet and making lifelong friends in the process.

He was also an enthusiastic storyteller who loved to share his experiences whenever
he had an audience. His wisdom, kindness and generosity impacted many. Hermann
was devoted to his family and spent his life ensuring his wife and daughters were well
taken care of. He was a loyal friend with a big heart and a great sense of humour.

Hermann received excellent care from the Palliative care team from Hospice Care
Ottawa. Their warm support and dedication were invaluable to him and the whole
family. Special thanks to Dr. McKinnon and Nurse Victoria for their many kindnesses.

A private family funeral will be held at this time, with a public Celebration of Life
planned for later in the summer. If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to
Hospice Care Ottawa would be appreciated.
https://www.hospicecareottawa.ca/donate.html
