Gregory (Greg) Fernet

Peacefully with his family by his side, Gregory Alan Fernet, aged 67, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Monday, May 21, 2018. Beloved husband of 33 years to Marian Fernet (Guilfoyle), and loving father to his two daughters, Kayla Marie Fernet (Jameson Hyndman), and Jacqueline Alanna Fernet (Jacob Wighton). Dear brother of Diane Fernet-Bishop (Glen), David (Jackie), Ron (Geri) and Jacqueline, as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Alex and Persis (Wotherspoon). Greg had retired from the federal government after many years of dedicated service. He loved spending time with his family, whether it was around the dinner table engaged in a debate on current issues or enjoying a day in the sun at the lake. An avid card player, he could often be found playing a game of bridge or a round of cards in the afternoon. Greg was also loved by Kayla and Alanna’s friends and was known affectionately as Daddy Long Legs. He will be deeply missed. Friends may visit at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa on Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service to be held in the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel on Friday, May 25 at 1:00 p.m. If people wish to donate in Greg’s memory, contributions to the Irving Greenberg Family Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated.
