<div itemprop="description">Passed away peacefully on March 10, 2019 at the Perley & Rideau Veterans' Health Centre at the age of 94, after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of 68 years to Jeannine (D’Amour), father to Michael (Lise Ouellette), Ron, and Brenda (Gary Christopher). Proud Grandpa to Julie (Richard St-Jacques), Adam (Marine Thomas), Chantal and André (Tanya Gracie) and proud Pépère to Emily and Alexander. Survived by sisters Betty (Papineau), Shirley (Angelo), Diane (Bouchard) and brother Peter (Lucas). He will be missed by his many family members and friends. <br> <br>The family wishes to thank doctors, nurses and staff of the QCH A3 Unit as well as the Perley & Rideau Veterans' Health Centre, especially those in the Rideau 1 South Unit for the exceptional care they gave Fred over the last few weeks. A special thank you to Dr. Comerton for personally helping make his passing peaceful. The family also wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Elizabeth Brown and the staff of the CCAC Bayshore in-home nursing for their care, support and kindness . <br> <br>A Veteran of WWII, Fred joined the Army as a Private in 1941, was involved in the Italian Campaign and Liberation of Holland, served in occupied Germany after the War ended and returned home in 1946. Your family thanks you for your service. <br> <br>Family and friends are invited to visit at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, on Friday, March 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday, March 16 from 1 p.m. until the time of a Memorial Service to be held in the chapel at 2 p.m. Private family interment will take place at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to the Perley & Rideau Veterans' Health Centre or the Canadian Cancer Society. <br></div>
