Frank P. Bridgewater
1921-2017

On April 11, 2017, Frank quietly slipped away to join Ruth, his beloved wife of 60 years. His memory is cherished and celebrated by his two children, Janice (John Flanders) and Dean (Caroline Heslop), and his grandchildren, Courtney, Zacchary, Samara and Johnny. He also leaves behind a brother, Richard of Regina. Frank was predeceased by his parents, Christina and Albert, and two brothers, Bert and Charlie. A veteran of the Second World War (RCAF), Frank subsequently joined Transport Canada and spent a long career as an aviation electronics specialist. After retiring, he undertook a second career as a teacher, imparting his knowledge to aviation officials in South Korea and the Philippines under contract to the International Civil Aviation Organization. A devoted family man, Frank was also a man of many talents. He had an artistic streak which he expressed through poetry and music. He loved animals; as a child, he was forever bringing home strays: rabbits, snakes, crows. As a young family man, he undertook many building projects, including designing a custom-made tent trailer in the garage he built. He had a wonderful sense of humour, an infectious laugh and a twinkle in his eye. The family expresses its sincerest gratitude to the staff on Rideau 2 South of the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre for the professional, respectful and loving care they provided Frank. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, on Monday April 17th from 11am until the time of the Memorial Service in the Chapel at 12noon. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Perley would be appreciated.
