She was born in Quebec City, the 9th of 12 children. She married Dr. Gerard M. Burns (Gerry) in 1962 and they moved to Ottawa in 1970. She is survived by husband Gerry, daughters Nancy Feldenbruegge (John) and Vivian Melsness (Paul), son David (Ivana Vlcek), all residing in Ottawa, grandchildren Justin, Shea, Remy, Clara and Sophie all dancers at Allegro Dance School in Stittsville. Francoise was interested in fashion and studied at Robinson School of Haute Couture and went on to make hundreds of dance costumes for her 5 grandchildren and made numerous articles of fine clothing for her family over several years. She took up painting and took lessons in oil painting while spending winters in Florida, producing 35 paintings which adorned her home and Florida condo. She and Gerry were interested in Ballroom dancing and spent many evenings dancing to live and recorded music. She especially liked Cha Cha, Rumba and Tango. Later in life she became qualified as a Library Technician. It was also said she was a pretty good golfer and enjoyed weekend golf trips to Malone, NY and Tremblant, QC.
