Donald Williams
May 21, 1928 - February 15, 2016
Passed away peacefully in his 88th year
on Monday, February 15, 2016. Beloved
husband of June Williams (Hipkiss) for
67 years. Loving father to Debra Babcock
(Brent), Patricia Mayer, Richard (Lorrie),
and Mary Chatterton (John). Predeceased
by their infant son, Donald Bruce. Cherished
grandfather to Chris, Daniel, Stephanie,
Brendan, Taylor, Chelsea, Jessica and Collin.
Will be sadly missed by his brother Howard
(Judith) and sister Mona McGill (Larry). Don's
first love has always been for his family.
During his life he was also fortunate to have
three other loves. The first was his passion
to fly planes, a career defined only by
pleasure and never just a job. Second was
his love for playing the bagpipes where he
played and competed with 3 bands in Ottawa,
The Campbell Pipe Band, The Ottawa Police
Band and The Canadian Forces Air Command
Pipes and Drums. Third was his love for
playing bridge with his soulmate and friends.
A life well lived and enjoyed. The family would
like to express their sincere appreciation to all
staff and doctors at the Civic Hospital, Alta
Vista Manor, General Hospital, and the Glebe
Centre with a special thanks to all staff at the
Glebe Centre for their compassion in his final
moments. A memorial will be held at a later
date at Union Cemetery near St. Thomas,
Ontario. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations
are welcome to either the Ottawa Heart Institute,
the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the
Canadian Cancer Society.
