<div itemprop="description">Donald Gordon Schell <br> (June 18, 1929 – April 12, 2017) <br> <br>Beloved husband of Carol (Carss). Dear father of Andrew, George (Laurie), Janet (John) and Stephen (Carrie). Cherished grandfather of Jennifer (Vedran), Miranda (Jonathan), Brendan and Ryan; David and the late Trevor; Hannah, Caleb, Jonathan, Maddie, Mathias, Christian and William. Loving brother of Lenore Mills and Lois Ladly. Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents, George Albert Schell and Audrey (Day). <br> <br>Don graduated from the University of Toronto in Mining Engineering in 1951 followed by an MBA in 1953. Don married Carol in 1953. They first lived in Sudbury and then moved to Winnipeg, then Thompson, Toronto and Elliot Lake before settling down in Kanata in 1972. Don joined the federal government and worked at EMR and FIRA until his retirement in 1992. <br> <br>Don was an avid skier, fisherman, and hunter and after his retirement he developed an intense interest in forestry. His woodlot in Tatlock, Ontario was his pride and joy. He was a member of the Snowhawks Ski Club and the Fly Fishers of Ottawa and served as a board member of the Ontario Woodlot Association. Longtime member of the CIMM, he will be deeply missed by all. <br> <br>Visitation will be held at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa on Sunday, April 16 from 2-4pm. A funeral service will be at 1 pm on Monday April 17 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church , 2 Mulkins St., Stittsville. A reception will follow. <br> <br>In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. <br></div>
