Peacefully at home on July 4th, in his 87th year after a lingering illness. Best husband and father imaginable, to Barb, his wife of 61 years and his four children, Lesley (Stephane) and Alex (Glenda) of Ottawa and Matt (Kim) of Vancouver and Jill (Stanley) of Jasper, Alberta. Remembered with love by his Grandchildren, Cameron, Rachel and Caitlyn, who in spite of all their degree’s, could never beat him at cribbage.

David spend his entire career in the Department of Agriculture taking advantage of all the many sports facilities at the Experimental Farm. Baseball and tennis in the summer and curling and broomball in the winter. He coached the ladies basketball team (The Aggies), was President of the DARA Tennis Club and skipped winning teams in the Curling Association. He was also the leading scorer in the R.A. basketball league in the 50’s. In his retirement he spent many happy hours walking Nelly at Bruce Pit, playing bridge, poker, listening to traditional jazz and best of all, taking many cross-country trips to visit family. His ability to tell a quick-witted joke never waned, even to his last days.

Respecting Dave’s wishes, cremation has taken place with inurnment in the family plot at Pinecrest Cemetery on July 10th. We then held a family celebration of his life to tell stories about Dad and relive cherished memories. Our lives will be much less interesting without him. He was loved so much by all of us.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society.
