<div itemprop="description">Charles (Carl) Wilson Britney<br>February 20, 1946 – October 9, 2018<br><br>Carl died unexpectedly at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Tuesday night from complications believed to be caused by a fast-moving form of ALS or motor neuron disease. He died peacefully in his sleep after a heroic and difficult four-month battle against a relentless foe. <br><br>He will be sorely missed by his daughter, Melissa (Jane) Britney, and his sister, Mara Lee McLaren (Britney), and by his many friends and relatives. <br><br>Carl, an electrical engineer (B.A.Sc, 1969 Waterloo) spent his working life in telecommunications, working many years with Bell Canada, MPR, and Nortel. In his later years, he renewed his passion for contract bridge, and was often found providing bass backup at jam sessions around town. He also became an avid and successful hunter of good deals on internet sites. <br><br>His beloved wife, Pamela Lynne Scott (Britney), predeceased him by many years. Carl was the son of Oscar Lee Britney and Wilda Dorothy Stuart (Cramer, Britney), both deceased. <br><br>His family request that donations in his name be sent to the Canadian Diabetes Association.</div>
