In Celebration of

Brenda Hope

March 10, 1949 -  April 7, 2020

HOPE, Brenda (née Aaron)

After a short but extremely courageous battle with cancer Brenda passed away with her family by her side on April 7, 2020. Best friend and beloved wife of Brian for forty-eight years. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Amanda and Tyler (Copeland) and Adam and Cynthia (Ladouceur). Cherished Grandma to Alexis and Taylor. Treasured sister and sister-in-law of the late Joyce and Daniel Douek, Louise and John Glicksman, Dawn and Thomas Steiner, June Malcolm and Doug Ford, and the late John Hope. Adored aunt and cousin to many.

Brenda was a kind, caring, and compassionate woman with a heart of gold. Her warmth and radiant smile brightened everyone's day. Brenda's passion for cooking and baking continue to be shared among her extended family. Brenda also loved to travel. One of her favourite places to be was in Mexico where she enjoyed the food, music, language and culture. Her strength of heart, devotion to love, zest for life, and reverence for her family will forever be remembered.

A heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Ottawa General Hospital. Due to the current public health restrictions, a private funeral has been arranged for immediate family only. A celebration of life will be announced when the timing is appropriate.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Brenda's memory may be made to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation or The Canadian Cancer Society.

I am so sorry to hear of sweet Brenda’s passing. When I think of her, I think of all the coffees we drank as we talked about our dreams, fixing the world and sharing our family stories. She loved her family very much and was always grateful. Brenda was quick to smile and laugh with me, take me for a ride in her mustang and share recipes. Though we did not see each other often, we both knew how much we enjoyed each other’s company and were quick to hug as soon as we saw each other. Brenda will be missed a lot and I am so happy to have known her. My heartfelt sympathies go out to all the Hope’s. Sincerely, Lisa Thumm
